The Very Serious Band was founded in 2017 to help expand and develop Stanley’s vision for a tightly-knit, light and mobile orchestra to accompany his performances, as well as explore musical ideas beyond those springing from Stanley’s own head. Mike Landavere – Percussion: Now leading percussion and rhythm for The Very Serious Band, Mike is a traditional jazz drummer and percussionist who has played for a number of bands including Dot, Fragile X, Rhythm Merchants, The Seldon Plan… and others that he prefers go unmentioned. He has studied under Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista and Billy Martin of Medeski Martin & Wood. His philosophy on music is that everybody can make music – hit anything with anything and make a sound!
